Toronto Defiant parts ways with OWCS roster

As one of the top teams throughout the OWCS 2024 circuit, Toronto Defiant made it to the OWCS World Finals 2024 tournament at DreamHack Stockholm between Nov. 22 and Nov. 24. There, the team duked it out against ENCE, Crazy Raccoon, Twisted Minds, and NRG Shock. In the end, Toronto Defiant earned third place.

On Dec. 2, the official Toronto Defiant social media account on X thanked its players and bid them farewell.

"The best in the west, Kings of NA, and the 4x OWCS NA Champs," the post stated. "Today we say thank you and goodbye to our incredible roster."

The post continued, acknowledging the talented players and reiterating gratitude for their time with Toronto Defiant. The message then encouraged fans to continue showing the players love wherever they go next.

Toronto Defiant OWCS 2024 roster

The former Toronto Defiant roster had Ham "SOMEONE" Jeong-wan playing as the tank, Choi "MER1T" Tae-min and Kamden "Sugarfree" Hijada as the damage players, plus Rupal "Rupal" Zaman and Diego "Vega" Moran as the support.

Notably, SOMEONE became the Overwatch League (OWL) MVP in the OWL Grand Finals back in 2023 prior to the OWCS succeeding the circuit. Mer1t fought alongside him under the Florida Mayhem flag. In the past, Rupal also fought beside SOMEONE and Mer1t under Florida Mayhem.

As for Sugarfree, he played for Timeless alongside Vega and Rupal — with the latter player as the common denominator among everyone on the now-former Toronto Defiant team. In an interview with esports.gg, Rupal spoke at length about great teamwork and how SOMEONE brought in the positive vibes.
