This is the case for writers within the Overwatch 2 fandom as they unleash their creativity with different pairings. So just what are the best Overwatch ships? Let's go over them!

As of now, there are 40,960 works about Overwatch on a website called Archive of Our Own (AO3). This is an online repository for fanfiction and other types of fanart. Fanfiction refers to fictional works written by folks who love a series or franchise. These stories are also based on pre-existing works. Imagine an entire online library full of stories about your favorite Overwatch 2 characters!

There are currently 937 works about Overwatch 2's beloved cowboy and... the reader? That's right. When a story on AO3 includes the reader, it means that whoever is reading it can imagine themselves in that fictional scenario. It looks like Cole Cassidy's charm isn't limited to the Overwatch 2 universe.

Taking the ninth spot is the love story between Genji and Mercy! Also known as "Gency," this ship of 990 stories involves a cyborg ninja from the Shimada clan and a healer who is also a great scientist. If Genji ever needs healing, then there's a pocket Mercy by his side.

This pairing boasts 1,410 works on AO3 and features Overwatch 2's handsome cowboy with the game's skilled ninja! Both Cole and Genji joined Blackwatch for different reasons, but they did work together to complete missions.

It's time for some Junkertown shenanigans with 1,590 stories! When Junkrat sought out a bodyguard to help him find some treasure, Roadhog answered the call. The original deal was giving Roadhog 10% of the treasure before it increased to 25%. Then, the deal jumped to 50%. Perhaps finding each other was the real treasure all along.

Also known by players as "Pharmercy" thanks to their history of in-game synergy, this pairing between Pharah and Mercy has 2,739 stories on AO3! Both of these characters were a part of Overwatch as well, taking to the skies as they both are able to fly.

This Reaper76 pairing boasts 5,803 stories about them on AO3! Gabriel and Jack met amid the Omnic Crisis before they both joined Overwatch. A rift started to form between them as they differed in methods when it came down to missions. This led to their supposed deaths before they rose as Reaper and Soldier: 76.

Taking first place is Cole and Hanzo. Known as "YeeHan" and totally not "Hole," this ship combines skilled marksmanship with a character who only wishes to redeem himself. This pairing has 7,321 stories written about them on AO3.
