“The team is currently discussing what it will take to make Anran look and feel more like the fierce older sister that we all envision her to be.”

Overwatch game director Aaron Keller just responded to community feedback regarding Anran's appearance. The response arrived after players noted that Anran's in-game model didn't match the expectations set by earlier teasers.

Overwatch to update Anran's appearance

In the video posted on Feb. 9, Keller thanked the community for the reception to the Overwatch Spotlight event. He then revealed that the team is reviewing feedback and discussing what it would take to make Anran look and feel more like the envisioned fierce older sister of Wuyang.

"The team is currently discussing what it will take to make Anran look and feel more like the fierce older sister that we all envision her to be," Keller said. "We're so proud of the work that our team has put into Anran and the rest of the five heroes launching in Season 1, and we agree that she can be even better if we get this aspect of her right in-game."

For more context, when Anran's in-game model and face were first revealed, Overwatch players noticed that the hero's appearance differed from the teasers. Many players noted that she looked similar to other heroes like Tracer, Juno, and D.Va. Folks also argued that the game's character designs often reused facial structures even though weapons and outfits were unique.

When will Anran's look change in Overwatch?

According to Keller, the Overwatch team delayed sharing details until they confirmed what could be done. The team hopes to make an Anran update in Season 1, however, Keller said he doesn't have specifics to share just yet.

"Our hero models are incredibly complicated, and we really need to test out what we can do," he added. "We're always striving to make Overwatch better, and I think Season 1 is a great example of the dedication and tireless work that our team puts into this game, its universe, and ultimately our players. And we're so excited to share it with all of you when Season 1 launches tomorrow."

Keller then thanked every for their feedback and support.
