Sierra becomes a playable DPS hero when Overwatch Season 2 launches on April 14. Blizzard Entertainment confirmed this through social media posts on X and the descriptions under the new Hero 51 trailers on YouTube.

Overwatch Hero 51 abilities

• Helix Rifle (Primary Weapon): An automatic assault weapon that shoots in a spiral pattern and gains accuracy with sustained fire.
• Tracking Shot (Ability): Mark an enemy. Helix Rifle shots automatically track marked enemies.
• Anchor Drone (Ability): Launch a drone. Reactivate it to launch towards it.
• Tremor Charge (Ability): Throw a charge that creates a shockwave on impact.
• Subrole: Recon (Passive): Damaging enemies below half health reveals them.
• Trailblazer (Ultimate): Deploy a drone that flies forward and drops explosives.
• Full Flight (Minor Perk): Increase Anchor Drone's flight and grapple range by 25%.
• Tight Grip (Minor Perk): Helix Rifle's bullet spread tightens 100% faster and widens 30% slower.
• Medi-Drone (Major Perk): Anchor Drones hold a small health pack that can heal Sierra.
• Locked In (Major Perk): Firing Tracking Shot increases Sierra's attack speed by 20% for 2 seconds.

Overwatch Sierra lore

In Overwatch, Sierra is the head of security at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa. Her drone is called Dorothy. Sierra is also currently working with Sojourn and tracking down Freja and Emre after the latter two got away with a mysterious asset. Based on what we can infer by the established lore, this asset may be tied to Project Naughton. This is also known as the Soldier Enhancement Program (SEP) program that turned Jack Morrison, now known as Soldier: 76, and Gabriel Reyes, now known as Reaper, into super soldiers during the Omnic Crisis. Interestingly, Reaper recently left Talon after Vendetta's takeover.

Speaking of Vendetta, she's currently working with Ashe and her Deadlock Rebels, Emre and Freja, the Hashimoto clan, Domina, Mauga, and more. An interview with esports.gg also suggests that Sierra is part of Blizzard Entertainment's plan of tying new heroes into existing narrative threads.

As for Sierra’s voice actor, it's Khaya Fraites. She's also the voice of Orweyna in World of Warcraft: Midnight (WoW Midnight), Vivian in Fear the Spotlight, Astra in Moonbreaker, Ouna in Diablo 4, and more.
