Overwatch: Invasion reveals story missions, new mode, and teases new Support Hero

Overwatch: Invasion is coming later this summer and features a new support Hero, story missions, and more.

The Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday held a surprise reveal for fans of Overwatch. Included in the two-hour long presentation was a look at the upcoming slew of content for the shooter. The update titled Overwatch: Invasion revealed story missions, a new game mode, a firing range, and a quick tease at a new support Hero.

Let's take a look at the various.

When does Overwatch: Invasion release?

Set for Season 6, Overwatch: Invasion will release on all platforms on August 10. Included in the content update will be the long-rumored story missions, a new mode titled 'Flashpoint,' a series of 'hero mastery' trials, a firing range, and a new support Hero. While there's no details on the new character just yet, we did get a brief glimpse of someone with more than a bit of superhero flair.

The revealed story missions mode highlights the ongoing Omnic invasion of new cities such as Toronto and the Overwatch team's response to a growing global threat. We also saw a snippet of what the Hero Mastery mode will entail, and it doesn't look too different than the combo trials found in fighting games such as Street Fighter 6.

We hope you're ready to practice canceling your Reinhardt charges, folks.

Overwatch: Invasion will also include a firing range that looks not unlike the one found in VALORANT, along with a new mode titled Flashpoint. There's no details just yet on what the mode is all about. However, don't be shocked to get more of an info dump as the August 10 release date for Season 6 and Invasion approaches.
