An analysis of the Overwatch Hero 51 trailer and what it may mean for upcoming content.
Blizzard Entertainment has released the Summit Breach hero trailer featuring Hero 51 Sierra. The trailer involves Sierra intercepting Deadlock and protecting Watchpoint: Grand Mesa. Here’s the full Overwatch Hero 51 trailer plus a look at Sierra’s relevance in the game’s latest lore reveals.
Overwatch Hero 51 trailer
Here is the official trailer for Sierra, also known as Hero 51 in Overwatch. In the trailer, Sierra communicates with her team and warns them not to let Deadlock escape with some weapons. Sierra is also in contact with Sojourn, who confirms that Overwatch is securing the perimeter and sending agents to help her.
Soon after Emre secures a weapon, Sierra fights him over it, giving players a hint at her kit. Before Sierra lands a killing blow, however, Emre activates his ultimate. Freja then arrives and restrains Sierra with a Bola Shot. She also tells Emre to stop because Sierra is neutralized.
In the end, Freja and Emre leave the scene with the weapon, but Sierra’s tracking device and drone has details about their location.

Sierra’s relevance to Overwatch lore
Sierra’s arrival is tied to the escalating conflict between the reunited Overwatch and Vendetta’s Talon. For context, Deadlock, among other organizations, is currently working with the new Talon after Vendetta defeated Doomfist. Emre and Freja are part of Talon as well. However, after reuniting with Emre, both seem conflicted about their involvement in the “Search & Destroy” comic and in the new Hero 51 trailer.
What makes the trailer especially interesting is that it takes place at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa, a location previously mentioned by Emre in the “Search & Destroy” comic. Deadlock’s involvement with stolen weapons was also established in that same comic. This suggests some intentional foreshadowing, hinting at where the story, lore, and hero content may be heading next.
That is, in the comic, Vendetta tasked Mauga with negotiating an alliance in Junkertown with Junker Queen. Vendetta also confirmed cooperation with the Hashimoto clan.
Overwatch Hero 51 abilities
As noted, the Sierra’s trailer also hints at her kit. It looks like she can grapple onto her drone, fire a powerful shot, pepper enemies with multiple shots at once, and perhaps climb walls.
Overwatch Sierra release date
In Overwatch, Sierra is a damage hero. Her release date is April 14, which coincides with the launch of Overwatch Season 2.
