Whether you’re the hunter or the hunted, here’s how to win in the Overwatch 2 Yeti Hunter game mode!
One of the featured game modes in the Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland 2024 event is Yeti Hunter. Here's our guide on how Overwatch 2 Yeti Hunter works and how to win as both Mei and Yeti Winston!
Overwatch 2 Yeti Hunter: How it works
In Overwatch 2, Yeti Hunter involves six players in total. Five of these players are Mei while one of them is Yeti Winston. While Mei's goal is to defeat Winston, the latter's goal is to collect meat to gain ultimate charge. Before you enter a match, you can choose if you would like to take on the Hunter role, Yeti role, or a random one.
How to win Overwatch 2 Yeti Hunter as Mei
If you're on a team with other Mei players, then know that Winston is vulnerable while he doesn't have his ultimate yet. This is when he has one or two pieces of meat. While he's collecting this, your team can track him down and even freeze him to prevent his escape. Yes, freeze is back!
Don't forget to use Mei's other abilities as well. These include Cryo-Freeze to heal up, Ice Wall to block Winston's route or save yourself or your teammates, and your right-click to shoot icicles at him. Your team can also group up to freeze Winston faster.
Note that Mei's ultimate is different compared to her typical one. Instead of freezing her foes, she lays a giant Junkrat trap instead. Your team's main goal is to get Winston's health down to zero.

How to win Overwatch 2 Yeti Hunter as Yeti Winston
If you're Yeti Winston, then you start the match in a cave. From there, you can jump around and collect meat. These are indicated by the game, so you can follow the orange text and icons around for faster navigation. You need four pieces of meat to get your ultimate to 100%. Getting the final piece immediately unleashes your ultimate, so it's a good idea to collect it near a group of Mei players.
Since you're Winston, you retain most of your normal kit as well. This means landing on top of enemies to deal damage, using your barrier to help prevent damage, and jumping to and from the Mei players. Additionally, as noted, when you have three pieces of meat, it's good to collect the fourth piece near Mei players so you can unleash your ultimate on them!
