Is Overwatch 2 setting sail with a Sea of Thieves collaboration? Here is what’s going on.

Blizzard is teaming up with Sea of Thieves in a new collaboration that features exclusive items. Among them is an Overwatch 2-themed one. Here is what's going on with this supposed Sea of Thieves x Overwatch 2 crossover.

An Overwatch 2 x Sea of Thieves collaboration?

Is Overwatch 2 getting a Sea of Thieves collaboration? On April 14, Blizzard announced that folks will soon be able to access Sea of Thieves through the Battle.net app. The adventure game will get an icon on Battle.net on May 22.

In celebration of this, players with the premium edition of Sea of Thieves will receive in-game items. These items will include five sails, and one of them will feature the Overwatch 2 logo.

Therefore, while it might look like a crossover from the Overwatch 2 side, the announcement is mainly about Sea of Thieves sailing into the Battle.net app. If you happen to be a Sea of Thieves fan with a soft spot for Blizzard's franchises, then this collaboration may be of greater interest.

In addition to the Overwatch 2 sail, the others appear to represent Diablo 4, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, and, of course, Battle.net itself.

Upcoming Overwatch 2 skins and collaborations

So while there aren't any Overwatch 2-themed Sea of Thieves skins, Overwatch 2 players still have plenty of cosmetics to be excited about. Season 16, for example, will include adorable DokiWatch skins, items from the new Battle Pass, and even more cosmetics available through the in-game shop. Plus, according to the game's 2025 roadmap, Season 16 will have "new collaborations."
