Overwatch 2 Illari origin story

TThe Overwatch 2 Illari cinematic began with the hero recalling the days when solar energy fueled all of her people's needs. However, only select individuals had the ability to wield the sun's power. These were the Inti Warriors. Illari called them the Children of the Sun. They were providers, healers, and protectors who harnessed solar energy.

"I was always told I would become a warrior," Illari said. "A big responsibility. But I had a gift that could help my people, so I trained."

When the day of initiation arrived, Illari was ready to embrace the sun. Power flowed into her before a sudden explosion occurred.

After the dust settled, Illari had glowing eyes and symbols on her body and face. These symbols dimmed after Illari realized that the explosion wiped out all of the other Inti Warriors.

"Was it my fault that no one knew the true extent of my power?" Illari asked. "To this day, I still don't understand what I did wrong."
