Overwatch 2 just announced a brand-new game mode — Stadium.

Overwatch 2 is preparing to release Season 15 within the next week, but Blizzard also dropped a bombshell on fans by announcing a brand-new game mode coming in Season 16 titled Stadium.

Here is everything you need to know about the new Stadium game mode coming to Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 to release new game mode, Stadium, in Season 16

While Season 15 is set to begin on February 18, 2025, fans are already getting excited for Season 16 due to the game's new Stadium game mode releasing then.

So, what is Stadium? Well, similar to games like Valorant and CS2, Stadium is a best-of-seven, fast-paced game mode that requires players to take out the other team within this short series of matches. With six players on each team, Stadium lets players use their favorite Overwatch 2 heroes when playing the new game mode.

Similar to Valorant and CS2, Stadium has an economy system, rewarding players after each round with coins. The coins can then be used to purchase different abilities specific to each hero.

Play Stadium in third-person

Stadium is also introducing third-person for players who do not wish to play the game mode in first-person. This gives gamers a much larger point of view. However, third-person in Stadium is completely optional as others can still play in first-person.

Overwatch 2 Stadium release date

Stadium drops in Overwatch 2 in April 2025, during the release of Season 16. Keep on the lookout for an exact release date for the season as time passes.

When it launches, there will be at least 14 core heroes for players to select from. As the season goes on, more and more heroes will be added to the game mode.
