Overwatch 2 teases new Talon event in China

The recent release of Vendetta in Overwatch 2 gave Talon the spotlight, and it appears that the antagonistic organization will soon take center stage again. According to OWCavalry and the official Overwatch 2 Weibo account, players in China will get a Talon-themed event.

In a post on X, OWCavalry detailed the region-locked Weibo post. According to the account, China will get an exclusive Talon-focused event slated for Dec. 31. OWCavalry also posted a screenshot of the Talon symbol and predicted ties to either current or past story beats.

Then, on Dec. 29, OWCavalry posted another look at the Overwatch 2 Talon event. This time, the post featured artwork of the different characters, namely Doomfist, Widowmaker, Sombra, Maximilien, Moira, Augusto Vialli, Mauga, Baptiste, Sigma, Gabriel Reyes, and Vendetta.

In terms of what to expect in the Overwatch 2 Talon event, what we know from the artwork is that Doomfist, Widowmaker, Sombra, and Maximilien appear to be in a casino of sorts. Meanwhile, Mauga and Baptiste are in the same battlefield before the latter leaves Talon. Moira is caught in some security footage, Sigma is in a lab, Augusto Vialli appears to be in a meeting room, and Gabriel Reyes, before he became Reaper, is shaking hands with someone. As for Vendetta, she's in Colosseo.

In Overwatch 2, Doomfist is the leader of Talon. Other members of the organization who are currently in the game include Moira, Reaper, Widowmaker, Sombra, Mauga, and Sigma. As noted, Baptiste is a former member. As for Vendetta, she has a lot of history with the organization.

As for Augusto Vialli and Maximilien, they are interesting additions to the artwork because they're not playable characters in Overwatch 2. Maximilien is an omnic who many players want to see added to the game. He's technically in it via Maximilien's Vault, but he isn't playable. Additionally, in an interview with esports.gg, senior narrative designer Jude Stacey pointed out how Augusto Vialli and Doomfist took everything away from her.

"I think she was clever enough to see him making mistakes when she was younger, and knew that would be his downfall," Stacey said, referring to Vendetta's father Antonio Bartalotti. "And then when it all came to pass, she was right. She'd done everything she could, but Vialli and Doomfist -- they stepped in and just everything she had was suddenly gone. So she had to work from nothing to take it back."

Although the Overwatch 2 Talon event has yet to launch, the artwork of key characters hints at interactions that could lead to intriguing storylines.
