“Give us 67 reasons why we should put this emote in-game.”
The official social media account for Overwatch 2 has teased a brand-new emote for Soldier: 76.
Overwatch 67 emote
Overwatch 2's 67 emote is a reference to a nonsensical expression that's popular among Gen Alpha. With Soldier: 76 being an older character at age 58, the emote may seem a bit out of place. However, perhaps he's simply embodying the "How Do You Do, Fellow Kids?" meme or the Overwatch 2 team is enjoying how the reverse of 76 is 67.
Overwatch 2 gets 67 emote
Why is Overwatch 2 posting about this emote? According to the game's social media account, it's in honor of Dictionary.com naming 67 its 2025 Word of the Year. Pronounced "six-seven," it was chosen after the site's lexicographers analyzed trends across news, social media, and so on. Searches for 67 surged more than sixfold beginning in mid-2025 while mostly no other two-digit number showed a similar pattern.
What's also hilarious is that Overwatch 2's social media account tagged Merriam-Webster. The dictionary's X account responded with a reaction GIF featuring Larry David.
The gift of prophecy?
Adding to the fun is Overwatch Cavalry pointing out that parody account PotNoodle Overwatch prophesized the 67 emote. On Oct. 26, PotNoodle Overwatch made a post about unlocking 67 loot boxes.
Overwatch 2 memes galore
This isn't the first time Overwatch 2 has added in-game items inspired by memes and GIFs. Earlier this year, Sombra received the That's Rad highlight intro, a nod to the "Thumbs Up Kid" GIF featuring Brent Rambo from a 1990s Apple promotional video.
