Overwatch 2 Sombra rework

Ability/Ultimate/Passive
Details
HackNo longer ends Stealth, but does reveal Sombra.
Hacked ability lockout effect duration reduced from 1.5 to 1.0 seconds (EMP duration unchanged).
B.O.B. hacked stun duration reduced from 10 to 3 seconds.
TranslocatorCooldown increased from 5 to 7 seconds.
EMPUltimate cost increased 12%.
StealthNo longer passive and now activates by using Translocator.
Now has a duration of 5 seconds.
Added Stealth timer around the reticle and removed ability icon.
Taking damage now reveals Sombra for 1 second instead of ending Stealth.
OpportunistThe Opportunist passive is back.
This increases Sombra's weapon damage versus hacked targets by 20%.
Opportunist lets Sombra see critically injured enemies through walls.

This rework represents a significant change to the damage hero's playstyle. Stealth, now with a limited duration, results in windows of vulnerability. Therefore, sneaking around the opposing team's backline requires more finesse — similar to other flankers.

Overwatch 2 Sombra rework explained

Meanwhile, Stealth movement speed is no longer removed upon taking damage. This makes it more useful as an escape tool. Another interesting part of the Overwatch 2 Season 13 Sombra rework is that Hack no longer ends Stealth. However, it does reveal her.

Opportunist returns in Overwatch 2 Sombra rework

Season 13 also sees the return of her Opportunist passive. This passive increases Sombra's weapon damage against hacked targets by 20%. It also allows Sombra to see critically injured opponents through walls, enabling her to chase down enemies or ping foes more easily.

These Sombra changes were hinted at prior to Overwatch 2 Season 13. Back in September 2024, lead gameplay designer Alec Dawson wrote, "Sombra has been a hot topic lately and we’re looking at some changes to her Stealth duration, among other things."

In addition to this Sombra update, the Overwatch 2 Season 13 patch notes feature nerfs to heroes such as Ramattra, Reinhardt, and Juno alongside buffs to Mauga, Sojourn, and Hanzo.
