“I only have one question for ya. Ready to have some fun?”
Overwatch 2 revealed a brand-new Mauga cinematic at BlizzCon 2023. The video features Mauga's origin story and some lore. Read on for details!
Overwatch 2 Mauga cinematic
The Overwatch 2 cinematic for Mauga begins with him listening to music while enjoying a tropical drink on a ship. He then recalls how he didn't always have such a peaceful demeanor. Next, a flashback of his past occurs. In the fiery background, Mauga's younger self shoots a gun against an unknown foe.
Two characters are located behind him and are shooting at the same target. Suddenly, these two individuals get hit by one blast each before Mauga himself gets knocked out. Fire and destruction continue around him as he lays flat on the ground.
The scene shifts to Mauga lying down on a hospital bed. He's accompanied by two doctors at his bedside. Mauga begins to lose his consciousness and looks down at his hands.
He grabs the doctor in front of him by their neck. A loud crunching noise is heard just as this happens and right when the scene shifts to the present Mauga eating a piece of fruit.
"Now I've got a whole new outlook on life," Mauga recalls. "I realized that it's okay to put myself first. Found out that I have a knack for bringing people together. And I learned how to let loose with friends."
