Will Overwatch 2 get LFG soon? Overwatch 2 executive producer Jared Neuss said that it’s unlikely. He also explained why.
Looking for Group (LFG) in Overwatch 2 is unlikely to happen soon, according to the game's executive producer. Read on for details and for the reasoning behind this.
Does Overwatch 2 have LFG?
Overwatch 2 executive producer Jared Neuss confirmed in a tweet that LFG is unlikely to happen soon. He replied to a player's insistence about bringing LFG back on console. Neuss also provided some insights about game development.
Why did Overwatch 2 remove LFG?
Neuss noted that "not likely to happen soon" does not necessarily mean "never" as well. He then explained tradeoff requirements in game development. While the Overwatch 2 team would like to release everything they're working on as soon as possible, that's not viable. Therefore, the developers must prioritize their work.
A lot of players on Twitter emphasized that they miss LFG in the game. One user noted that it's been five months since the launch of Overwatch 2.
The initial patch notes for the game also acknowledged LFG as a retired feature. Below are the retired features listed in the original October 2022 notes.
- Assault maps have been removed from rotation in all playlists (can be found in Custom Game)
- General Chat has been removed
- Looking for Group has been removed
- Loot Boxes have been removed
- Player Levels are retired (can view your prior level in your Profile)
