Overwatch 2 hotfix buffs Sombra

At the start of Overwatch 2 Season 13, Sombra received a major update. For example, the duration of Stealth was limited, the Opportunist passive returned to the hero, and Stealth was no longer a passive at all. Then, on Oct. 21, Blizzard released an Overwatch 2 hotfix to slightly buff the damage hero. Her Translocator cooldown went from 7 seconds to 6 seconds.

This update means that Sombra can now use her Translocator ability more frequently. This is significant because Translocator is the only way to activate Stealth in the Season 13 Sombra rework.

Overwatch 2 lead gameplay engineer Daniel Razza shared some insights about this Sombra hotfix as well.

"We're testing some new Rapid Balance Update tech with yesterday's Sombra Translocator cooldown change, which is why it's a smaller set of changes compared to our usual balance updates," Razza explained. "We'll be monitoring how this new tech performs and exploring how we can use it in the future."

Sombra's Stealth nerf explained

According to the Overwatch 2 developers, giving Stealth a limited duration means more windows of vulnerability. Therefore, Sombra players who wish to sneak around the enemy team's backline must play more carefully.

"This is a significant change to Sombra's playstyle in the hopes of making her more interactive for the opposing team and shifting some of her power from the utility of Stealth and Hack into increased lethality," the developers stated at the start of Season 13.
