Overwatch 2 Season 16 will kick off next week, which means Freja will soon join the game's permanent roster. While she'll be the star of Season 16, some eagle-eyed players have already spotted hints at another new hero slated for perhaps a future season. Here's everything we know so far about Hero 45 in Overwatch 2.

According to OWCavalry on X, Overwatch 2's latest Stadium playtest includes a couple of teasers for Hero 45. A silhouette of the character can be seen on a banner alongside the Roman numerals "XLV," which means "45." Another Stadium screenshot features Hero 45's sword on display. Just like the banner, the "XLV" number is in this image.

Meanwhile, shortly after the game's Spotlight stream in February 2024, Reddit user P3runaama posted an image suggesting the possibility of Hero 45. The image featured two screenshots. One of them had a doodle of the hero while the other had a statue labeled "Magnus."
Even Overwatch 2's game director, Aaron Keller, hinted at the possibility of Hero 45. During a Twitch stream featuring content creator FroggerOW, he said that a melee hero is "definitely something we're looking at." Keller then added that while melee heroes are difficult to design, he thinks that "we’ve got a route to do that."
Additionally, according to another post by OWCavalry, Blizzard accidentally teased Hero 45 with some placeholder text that stated, "Gladiators Gonna Gladiate."
