Overwatch 2 FACEIT League Season 1: Compete for a spot at the Esports World Cup

FACEIT Overwatch 2 League Season 1 is here! Players of all skill levels can enter for a chance to compete at the Esports World Cup.

FACEIT, the esports platform, has announced a new addition to their leagues. The FACEIT Overwatch 2 League is a community-backed, multi-divisional team league for PC players. The league features a $170,000 prize pool and has four tiers for players to compete and eventually qualify for the Esports World Cup.

The FACEIT Overwatch 2 League

FACEIT leagues have been a consistent and constant pillar within many different games throughout their time in the esports scene. The organization has been a tournament organizer for some of the most popular esports, like Dota 2, League of Legends and Counter Strike. However now, FACEIT has dipped their toes in Overwatch 2 with the FACEIT Overwatch 2 League.

Over the course of the next year, there will be three seasons of the FACEIT Overwatch League. Each season of play will last three months and be open to all. This league is for players of all skill levels, whether players are just having fun playing as a full squad of friends or trying to compete at the pro level. According to the announcement blog, the FACEIT Overwatch League guarantees a minimum of 12 matches of competition.

There are four different divisions of competition for the FACEIT Overwatch 2 League based on skill level. Starting with Open league, then Advanced, and then Expert. The last one is the Master division. At the start of each season, lower-scoring teams will be demoted to a lower bracket while high-scoring teams will battle in playoffs to rise to the next division.

There's quite the incentive for teams to reach the top. Because, at the end of the first season of FACEIT's Overwatch 2 League, the best teams of the Masters division will directly qualify for the Esports World Cup. These teams won't just qualify for the cup either — they'll directly qualify for the finals of the cup!
