In addition to announcing a mini-competitive season featuring six-versus-six (6v6) gameplay, the latest Overwatch 2 director's blog revealed that the game's Clash maps will be removed from competitive gameplay next season. Here are the details.
Overwatch 2 removes Clash maps from ranked
According to Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller, Clash maps will be removed from the Competitive Play game mode starting in Season 15. This removal will allow the Overwatch 2 team to work on them and improve their experience in ranked gameplay.
"This past year, we introduced Clash, which was inspired by the original Assault maps, but gave players a chance to attack and defend throughout the course of the match," Keller stated. "Clash has had some really good matches, but we’ve also seen a lot of constructive feedback."
He then acknowledged some issues with Clash maps, including how one team can quickly steamroll the other and the confusion among players over which point is active.
"We'll keep you updated on the progress we make there," Keller added.

Overwatch 2 keeps Clash in Quick Play
While Clash will be removed from Competitive Play, the game mode will still be available in Quick Play and other unranked modes next season. This means players will be able to enter Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis in Overwatch 2 Season 15.
As a quick refresher, the Clash game mode involves five capture points, only one objective is active at a time, and the first team to secure five capture points wins the match.
