Overwatch 2 bans more than 1 million accounts for cheating
According to an official announcement, more than 1 million accounts have been banned for cheating since the release of Overwatch 2. This milestone follows the January 2025 update that reported more than 800,000 bans. Cheating covers the use of wallhacks, aimbots, and other exploits, as well as players who group up with cheaters.
"While the effort to stop cheaters and the cheats they use is an ongoing effort, we want to reiterate our commitment to ensuring the outcome of every Overwatch match is determined by skill and passion, and not through unfair advantages," the announcement stated. "Thank you for reading and keeping Overwatch fun, fair, and fantastic!"

Overwatch 2 improves text chat
Overwatch 2's latest Defense Matrix update also features real-time text moderation, which is a system proven successful in World of Warcraft. Now, whenever a player types a harmful or offensive message in Overwatch 2, the system hides it from the rest of the lobby. Players can still reveal the full message in the chat feed if they wish to do so. They can then report it if necessary.
Overwatch 2 console players enter PC pool with mouse and keyboard
With the introduction of mouse and keyboard support for console players, those who enable it can join the pool of PC players. These players use their internal matchmaking rating (MMR), ranks, and skill ratings from the PC pool if they previously played in that pool as well. It should also be noted that mouse and keyboard users must join the correct pool or their inputs won't work. Aim assist won't work in the ranked mouse and keyboard pool, either.
Meanwhile, console players on controllers are part of the controller pool. Controller users joining cross-play matches with PC friends still get aim assist.
As for PC players using controllers, they remain in the mouse and keyboard pool.
