Overwatch 2 Genesis Part 1: Dawn recap
The Overwatch 2 mini-series began with a dramatic explosion. A character called Sky warned an observer about a battalion spotted in their sector before the battle continued. Ricardo Perez of the Brazilian Armed Forces and UN Military Affairs then talked about his dislike for omnics.
"They were supposed to be the beginning of a new life," Perez said. "But in that moment, it felt like the end of humanity."

Camara Verne, a robotics engineer, then described life before the war against omnics. She mentioned how the implementation of God programs allowed artificial intelligence (AI) to help society.
"We were no longer defined by our mistakes. The AIs were saving us from them," Verne said. Overwatch 2 Genesis Part 1: Dawn showed how AI saved a kid.
Next, Mathias Verne, also a robotics engineer, talked about combining AI with robotics. Omnica Corp began building a new line of robots. The plan was for them to eliminate the need for humans to do dangerous, idle, and mundane jobs.

Enter Dr. Mina Liao. According to Camara Verne, Liao pushed the limits of what was already perfection. The Overwatch 2 anime showed this with a team of scientists gathering around an omnic. Camara and Mathias recalled that the omnic didn't simply activate. Instead, she was born.
Overwatch 2 Genesis Part 1: Dawn ended there. The next part of this mini-series will air on July 13 at 9 a.m. PT. The runtime of Part Two: Innocence will be 6:34 minutes.
