How to unlock Galactic weapons in Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 Season 15 not only launched with a major update via the new Perks system, but also welcomed some gorgeous Galactic weapon variants! These are galaxy-themed weapon skins that you can unlock, equip, and show off to others. Read on for our guide on how to get Galactic weapons in Overwatch 2.

To get Galactic weapon skins in Overwatch 2, you must participate in the Competitive game mode. This is because the 2025 season features these Galactic weapons as rewards — similar to how the 2024 season had Jade weapons. After duking it out in Competitive enough times, you must then head to the in-game hero gallery. Do this by visiting Overwatch 2's main menu and selecting the "Heroes" option. Next, choose a hero.

Then, click on the "Weapon Variants" tab. You should see the available weapon variants. Select the "Galactic" option to preview the Galactic weapon skin. The Galactic weapon variant also looks different depending on the skin that you're currently using! For example, when we equip our Happi Genji skin, his Galactic weapon variant is a deep purple and green.

When we equip our Hangzhou Spark Home Genji skin, the damage hero's Galactic shurikens glow purple and pink. It's the same with his sword.

Once you're happy with the weapon previews, click on the "Unlock" button to exchange a total of 3,000 Competitive Points for it. Finally press the "Equip" button to show off the new skin the next time you're in a match.

That's all there is to it! In terms of earning Competitive Points, you must either win or draw a match in Overwatch 2's Competitive game mode. You earn 10 points for winning and five points for a draw. Our screenshot above confirms this as well.
