Here’s how to get lots of free loot boxes in Overwatch 2!
Overwatch 2 Season 15 is here, which means the arrival of loot boxes! Here's our guide on how to unlock loot boxes in Overwatch 2. We go over the free loot boxes and the paid ones.
How to get free loot boxes in Overwatch 2
To unlock five free loot boxes in Season 15, simply launch the game and complete six matches. Wins grant double the progress. Then, complete 10 more matches to claim five more loot boxes. These freebies are part of the second Perked Up event that began on Feb. 25.
According to Blizzard, you can "earn up to an additional 10 loot boxes each week by completing up to 15 games with wins counting as double." Note that this applies to Season 15 only.

- Challenges for Loot Boxes reset every week, so any loot boxes not earned in that week are missed out.
These 15 games are part of the Perked Up event challenges. The first Perked Up event just ended and had the Rainy Day Mercy skin. Prior to Feb. 25, another way to get free loot boxes was by completing a Discord Quest. This Discord Quest just ended as well, but we'll update you if another one gets added to the app.
You can earn up to three loot boxes on a weekly basis as well. Our screenshot below indicates this near the top-right corner.
- Starting in Season 15, you can earn up to three Loot Boxes every week by completing up to 27 games each week with wins counting as double.

How to get loot boxes in Overwatch 2
There are normal loot boxes and legendary ones in the game. The latter version guarantees you at least one legendary item. You can get a free legendary loot box by reaching tier 36 of the free Battle Pass. If you'd like two more legendary loot boxes, then you'll need to at least pay 1,000 Overwatch Credits for the Premium Battle Pass.
How to open Overwatch 2 loot boxes
Opening up your loot boxes is simple. Just head to the main menu and select the "Loot Boxes" option. The right of this text should indicate how many loot boxes you currently have on your account. Next, press either the "Open Loot Box" button or "Open All Boxes" button and enjoy your items! Our video below shows you how to do this.
What's inside the different Overwatch 2 loot boxes?
If you're on PC and press "F1" on your keyboard, then you can see everything that each type of loot box has to offer. Select either the "Loot Box" or "Legendary Loot Box" tab from the top-left corner to see the different items. You can get common, rare, epic, and legendary cosmetics in Overwatch 2.
