Doomfist can no longer be selected in ranked Overwatch 2 matches. Here is what’s going on with this Doomfist bug.
Tank hero Doomfist can no longer be selected in ranked Overwatch 2 matches. The unannounced update prompted players to figure out exactly why this happened.
Doomfist disabled in Overwatch 2 ranked
If you log in to Overwatch 2 and enter the Competitive Play game mode, you may notice that Doomfist is no longer available as a tank option. If you hover over him, the text there states, "Hero is currently disabled in ranked games." There's also text indicating that Doomfist is locked in Competitive Play for now. You can't select Doomfist for hero bans, either.

This might be due to a bug that allowed Doomfist to do a free empowered punch. According to bbbbigface on Reddit, the bug involves using Power Block and quickly canceling it while using his Meteor Strike ultimate. If timed correctly, this allows Doomfist to gain a free Rocket Punch. A blue flash on Doomfist indicates the bug has been triggered.
"If you succeed, your Doomfist will flash a blue light," bbbbigface added. The user also referred to GonnaSaveEnergy's post that included video evidence. The video was uploaded by the Get Quaked On channel on YouTube.
Some Overwatch 2 players rejoiced at not having to face Doomfist in ranked matches. Under OWCavalry’s post on X, for example, folks talked about their relief and some even celebrated his removal with memes.
As for Doomfist mains or players who wish to duke it out as him, they can still do so in other Overwatch 2 game modes. These include Unranked ones such as Quick Play, 6v6 Open Queue, Mystery Heroes, Overwatch 2 Stadium, plus the different options in the Arcade.
At the time of publishing this article, Overwatch 2 has not yet reinstated Doomfist in ranked play. However, this will likely change soon as the developers work on a bug fix.
