The Overwatch 2 team listened to the community’s feedback. They’re implementing new updates to the Stadium game mode in the middle of the season.

Blizzard Entertainment set out to prove they're listening — and Stadium is no exception. Just two days after Overwatch 2 Season 16 launched, complete with the new game mode Stadium, the developers have already announced a round of upcoming updates.

Crossplay in Stadium

Across both the Blizzard Forums and the official Overwatch 2 Reddit, players have been pointing out that Stadium currently lacks crossplay between PC and console. For those who want to have a good time playing the new mode, the lack of crossplay between platforms was a huge downgrade.

"I find it annoying that I can't play Stadium with my friends… just bc they are on console, being ranked only is cutting us from enjoying it together…," one player wrote in the Blizzard Forums. Another replied, "Same here, my friend and I use Overwatch as one of the few games we can play together (PC and Switch) and this has killed almost all the hype I had building up for Stadium."

The Overwatch 2 team acknowledged these concerns and stated that they will look into it. "This will require a patch, we're investigating the timeline (hopefully S16 mid), and will update you all when there is more info," the official account for the game stated on X. Therefore, crossplay might be one of the biggest updates coming to Stadium soon.

Leavers in the Stadium

Another issue pointed out by players was the number of players leaving the Stadium in the middle of a match. Overwatch 2 will keep monitoring the situation and determine if it's a perception issue or not. We should have more information about this issue later this week.

Stadium performance

Since Stadium is a more demanding mode, Overwatch 2 is working on some new ideas to make the experience better. According to feedback from players, this mode is "hitting older systems harder." This is currently being analyzed to be part of a future patch.

Stadium updates: More bonuses and hero balance

In the Stadium, some heroes feel overpowering compared to others, which makes some games unplayable. To ensure a more balanced experience for everyone, Overwatch 2 will make adjustments to address this. Given that Stadium is still in its early stages with many new compositions being tested, it’s too soon to make definitive decisions. However, rest assured that changes will be made in the future to improve balance and gameplay.

Exciting changes are coming to Stadium, including a boost in Competitive Points. Overwatch 2 noted that players currently find the these points "too low for the length of the match." They will fix this in the mid-season patch. The patch will also address a visual bug that shows Battle Pass XP as zero after a game.

There is nothing better than being heard. So, keep sharing your feedback about the Stadium because it can happen in the future. "We want the Stadium to be the best game mode it can be," Overwatch 2 stated on X.
