It’s new map time as the icey Arctic Peninsula Control map makes its way to Overwatch 2 Season 3. Let’s get an early look.

Look out, Overwatch fam: A new season is coming next week and with it comes a brand-new map. It looks like a new Control map called Icebox Arctic Peninsula is coming to Overwatch 2 when the Season 3 patch drops. Bringing with it ice, penguins, and an Aurora Borealis... at this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely on the control point.

The full trailer won't release until Feb. 6, but Blizzard (haha...ice) did reveal a quick peek at the new map on social media. Take a look below and we'll gleam some information from the small taste.

Arctic Peninsula: Mei lore?

The Arctic Peninsula map coming to Overwatch 2 Season 3 isn't the first icey locale in the game. Ecopoint: Antarctica is a deathmatch map usually reserved for custom matches. However, it appears this new Control map is a mix of outdoor, indoor, and vertical spaces. Especially of interest is the outdoor point with walk up stairs and three alcoves that appears to be a helicopter pad.

if you're a fan of ice and snow it probably means you're a Mei main. You're in luck, as not only does this map seem to fit her choke point play-style perfectly, but she'll blend right in. If fans are lucky this might come along with some good, old-fashioned lore about the DPS Hero. After all, why would anyone want to venture to somewhere this cold unless there was a good reason?

Keep an eye out for the full trailer next week, as well as the launch of Arctic Peninsula and Overwatch 2 Season 3. Here's hoping the battle pass is just as cool as the map. And yes, we're sorry about all the ice puns. But when else will they get used?
