Looking to mod Oblivion Remastered? Here is how.

One of The Elder Scrolls series's staples is the ability to download mods. In the past, games like Skyrim have had mod support on consoles and PC, allowing for gamers of all sorts to create and download some of the most creative mods in the game. So, how do people download mods in Oblivion Remastered?

Downloading mods in Oblivion Remastered: Is it possible?

Modding Elder Scrolls games is partially what makes the series so entertaining. You can make better weapons, add characters from other franchises, or even make the game look better than it already is.

However, is modding the new Oblivion Remastered possibly? Sadly, no. Bethesda has not included support for mods like they have in past Elder Scrolls games.

This means that you will have to play Oblivion Remastered exactly as it has been released. Do not worry, though, as the game feels like a modded version of the original. There is so much to explore, as Bethesda has essentially given us 500 hours of remastered gameplay, making Oblivion Remastered one of the greatest releases so far in 2025.

However, there is a way to play Oblivion with mods, just not necessarily how you would think.

A loophole to playing Oblivion with mods

There is a loophole for those adventurous enough to find a way to play Oblivion with mods, and that is by playing the original game, not the remastered version, or using Nexus Mods, a third-party modding site. For relatively cheap, you can purchase the original Elder Scrolls IV on Steam, which supports mods.

In fact, there are already remastered mods out there for the game that make the original look just as good as its newest release.

So, if you want to play the game with mods, then you need to download the original version or head to Nexus Mods and install new mods for Oblivion Remastered.

About The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

Oblivion Remastered was released on April 22, 2025, just minutes after Bethesda went live, talking about the game. This marked a massive moment in gaming history, as the company essentially launched the biggest remake in gaming history and did it so subtly, too.

The game includes all the content from the original version, which was released back in 2005, while completely redoing the graphics in Unreal Engine 5 and including all of the DLC content.

The game is immersive and incredibly expansive, and for those who never played the original, this is basically a new Elder Scrolls game for them.
