If you’re into co-op roguelike titles with classic Disney aesthetics, you might want to check out the mobile game Acecraft.

MOONTON Games unveils its latest project, Acecraft, a mobile roguelike co-op title inspired by 1930s animation. According to the publisher, the animations are fully hand-drawn, adding more to the immersion. Every frame, character, and attack pattern was crafted by hand. This evokes the spirit of Steamboat Willie, Looney Tunes, and that old-school rubber hose style.

We’ve seen 1930s-inspired games before. One of the most iconic is Cuphead, a run-and-gun shoot-em-up that took the gaming world by storm. Its brutally challenging gameplay and painstakingly hand-drawn animation make it a fan favourite among hardcore gamers. Its art style, heavily inspired by Fleischer Studios and early Disney shorts, brought rubber hose characters and vintage aesthetics back into mainstream gaming.

Acecraft takes that same animation spirit and reimagines it for mobile. The game features a vertical scrolling twist, real-time online co-op, and a focus on roguelike replayability. Its gameplay is similar to Touhou Project and Space Invaders, but with vintage graphics and built for mobile gaming. But to clarify, it’s not a knockoff; it’s its own identity with unique gameplay mechanics for hardcore mobile players.

Set in the floating sky world of Cloudia, the entire game is animated by hand to give it a warm, worn-in look that feels more like a moving storybook than a mobile game. The roster includes eight Ace Pilots, each having their own aircraft with varying playstyles.

No one’s stopping you from flying solo and going guns blazing in Acecraft. But where the game truly shines is in its co-op mode. This lets you and a friend take to the skies together and adapt to enemy attack patterns in real time. The co-op experience in Acecraft adds an extra layer to the roguelike mechanics, as you and your wingman will need to coordinate power-up combinations and adapt on the fly, pun intended.
