Whats coming to Franchise Mode this year?
The upgrades coming to NHL 25's Franchise Mode have finally been unveiled. The popular mode has been under loved in recent years, but it seems that this could be the best year ever to be a Franchise Mode devotee.
NHL 25 releases on October 4, with early access starting a week before that. You can pick the game up on either Playstation 5 or XBOX X|S.
Here's a rundown of what to expect from Franchise Mode this year:
NHL 25 Franchise Mode features
1. Franchise Hub
The face of Franchise Mode has been given a facelift in NHL 25. Navigation has been streamlined. This will help GM's access new and relevant information that's easy to digest. This will include information like ox scores, player stats, an award tracker, an updated league ticker, and a goals and challenges display.
The entire league can now be viewed at a glance through the hub which includes division standings to point leaders, giving you up-to-date info on how players and teams are performing throughout the year. Additionally a ticker at the bottom of the Franchise Hub screen will present information just like you would experience during the trade deadline.

2. Playstyle Changes
New to NHL 25 Franchise Mode, you can now ask players on your roster to change their playstyle. This can lead to positive or negative effects. You can also set player goals that could help improve stats or gain abilities. However, be prepared for a player who may reject the request. This will result in a cool-down period where you’ll have to wait before you can ask the player to change their position or play style.
If you're short of a certain position, you can now ask them to learn a new position. This could be great if you're struggling to make a certain Trade work.
3. Contract Overlay
Contract Overlay and Collective Bargaining Agreement now supports No Trade and No Movement clauses for each contract year, and new conversation functions enhance negotiations for a faster, more intuitive process.
The new Conversation System is designed to make every conversation feel important and have a meaningful impact on your team. So gone are the ice-time conversations where players are complaining about things. It's now a more proactive system where you are assigning players' goals or trying to make that player better or try to fit into your system as you need to.
Additonally, this will also make contract negotiations a lot more realistic. In NHL 25 Franchise Mode you can charm players. This can increase the odds of persuading the player to join. If you play your cards right from there, you convince a player who was not interested at first to sign for your team. Negotiations are a lot less cut and dry than in past games.
