Here is the identity of Ghostface in MK1!

Ghostface of the Scream film franchise has finally made their long-awaited debut in Mortal Kombat (MK1). The keyword is "their" because anyone familiar with the series knows that Ghostface is more than one person. Over the six feature-length films, several characters have donned the iconic mask and robe equipped with a voice changer, hunting knife, and other weapons. With Ghostface joining the MK1 roster, many fans are wondering who is behind the mask. Here is the answer.

Billy Loomis is the primary Ghostface in MK1

Billy Loomis, portrayed by Skeet Ulrich in the first Scream movie, leads a trio of Ghostface characters in MK1. Although he was the primary killer in that film, he wasn't alone. Matthew Lillard's Stu Macher represented the second half of the twisted tandem. However, in Mortal Kombat 1, Billy Loomis is the character behind the mask.

NetherRealm Studios worked with Skeet Ulrich for motion capture and utilized his facial likeness for attacks like Fatal Blows, Fatalities, and Brutalities. One of Ghostface's intro dialogues references Matthew Lillard's character, but his likeness does not appear in the game.

However, as mentioned above, Billy Loomis is only one of three Ghostfaces in MK1. The other two are a pair of 3D-era Mortal Kombat characters.

The developers utilized this complex horror slasher to reintroduce two somewhat forgotten Mortal Kombat characters: Kobra and Kira. Stephanie Brownback, quality assurance lead at NetherRealm Studios, revealed on the Ghostface Kombat Kast that Billy Loomis recruited a pair of Black Dragon members into his cult for MK1. Nicknamed the enforcer and assassin, figuring out this pair's identity didn't take long.

Ghostface's gameplay allows players to switch between the traditional version, enforcer, and assassin. When switching to the enforcer or assassin, Ghostface performs moves identical to Kobra and Kira from Mortal Kombat: Deception. Any doubt about the character's identity in MK1 would be squandered when data miner thethiny located in-game files directly references the Black Dragon duo.

That solves the mystery of Ghostface in MK1. Although you cannot see Kobra or Kira unmasked, the pair's moves are front and center. You can also emulate Ghostface's moves using the Shunjinko Kameo, where he puts on a plastic version of the iconic mask.
