Here is the first look at Takeda in MK1 and when you can get your hands on this character.

Mortal Kombat 1's first downloadable content (DLC) offering is winding down. Only one primary and one Kameo character remain ahead of an inevitable roadmap by NetherRealm Studios, and this is a lethal combination. Mortal Kombat X characters Takeda and Ferra round out Kombat Pack 1. Not only do we have a release date, but Ed Boon also provided our first look at Takeda in MK1.

Takeda first look and release date for Mortal Kombat 1

With Homelander now in the rear-view, NetherRealm Studios has turned its attention to Takeda, the next and final Kombat Pack 1 character. A fan-favorite from Mortal Kombat X, Takeda is the consensus favorite of the Kombat Kids, which also includes Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, and Kung Jin. NetherRealm Studios recently announced that Takeda would arrive alongside Ferra on July 23 for early access, with a worldwide release date to follow.

In addition to the release date, NRS creative director Ed Boon gave fans a taste of Takeda's gameplay. The character's iconic bladed whips are back alongside some familiar combos and moves from his debut in Mortal Kombat X. Although it was merely a taste of what to expect, Takeda looks like a solid character to round out year one of Mortal Kombat 1.

What is next for MK1 DLC?

Leaks have begun to surface regarding future DLC plans beyond Kombat Pack 1. Recent reports indicate some classic Mortal Kombat favorites and intriguing guest characters are on the horizon. Ed Boon has also revealed that future content will include a story expansion. Mortal Kombat 1 fans have much to look forward to as the game nears its first anniversary.

However, Takeda is up next, and although his backstory in this Mortal Kombat timeline remains a mystery, we expect to hear more in the coming weeks.
