Crossplay arrives in MK1 in February 2024!

Crossplay is finally coming to Mortal Kombat 1 in 2024. Although NetherRealm Studios said it would be available at launch, that did not come to fruition. However, it’s better late than never as the studio and fans prepare for a banner year ahead. Here’s what we know about Mortal Kombat 1’s crossplay plan.

When is crossplay coming to Mortal Kombat 1?

NetherRealm hosted a Kombat Kast on December 13 to showcase Quan Chi and Khameleon’s gameplay before release. In addition to the gameplay, NRS shared some exciting updates, including balance changes, minor quality-of-life adjustments, and more.

No announcement generated more hype than the revelation that crossplay for MK1 will launch in February 2024. That means players can soon compete against opponents on all platforms. While an exact date is unclear, the future is bright for Mortal Kombat 1.

Toward the end of The Kombat Kast, a Quan Chi vs. Liu Kang gameplay showcased PlayStation 5 crossplay to Xbox Series X.

Crossplay stood out in the sea of updates from the NRS development team. However, it’s worth pointing out some others, including balance changes to Kameo characters Kung Lao and Darrius. Many have called for an adjustment to Kung Lao’s “Low Hat” attack, and it’s coming soon.

Here are some other notable Kameo changes:

  • Kano’s Laser will become a “mid” attack
  • Sonya’s Rings will become a “mid” attack
  • Darrius adds a new attack to his arsenal

Last but not least, a WiFi filter is coming to MK1 alongside crossplay. This setting will allow players to filter out opponents on a WiFi connection, another highly-requested option from those with a wired setup.

Overall, 2024 looks promising for Mortal Kombat 1 as the game develops.
