PMWI 2022 revealed with $3 million prize pool, 18 teams from around the world will compete

The PMWI 2022 is set to be the first global LAN event for PUBG Mobile since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Tencent has pulled the curtains on the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2022. Eighteen of the best PUBG Mobile teams from around the world will be competing from Aug. 11 to 20. It has a huge prize pool of $3 million.

“Following the success of the very first PUBG Mobile World Invitational in 2021, we’re thrilled to bring the event back for the second time in 2022. This year, the PMWI will be the biggest and best yet, especially with our new format allowing more exciting opportunities for both our players and fans. Through this exciting new event, we can show the great community spirit that PUBG Mobile Esports and its talented teams have created.”

PMWI 2022 is set to be the first global PUBG Mobile esports LAN event in two years

The last time a global LAN event for PUBG Mobile happened was in December 2019 during the Club Open (PMCO) Fall Split Global Finals.

Tencent had planned to hold the 2020 PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) Finals as a LAN event at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The players had to compete from their hotel rooms, however, after some players tested positive for COVID-19.

With the COVID-19 situation improving around the world, Tencent has partnered with Gamers8 to bring the PMWI 2022 to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Gamers8 website has confirmed that the PMWI 2022 will happen at the city's Esports & Elite Zone - Boulevard.
