51 teams to compete. Only one will become the world champion.

The top PUBG Mobile teams of the world are set to face off once again for the title of the world champions at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2023. This year, the event will begin in November and conclude by the end of December, as per the PUBG Mobile esports roadmap.

The PMGC is headed to Turkey for the first time in 2023. This comes after the region has seen a sharp increase in the amount of PUBG Mobile players and the competition. In fact, the defending world champions, S2G Esports, are also from Turkey.

The format for the PMGC will remain the same as past editions. It will feature a long league stage with the top teams making it to the Grand Finals. Now, Tencent has finally revealed the slot distribution for the anticipated tournament.

While the exact format hasn’t been revealed yet, the 48 teams in the League Stage will split into different groups which will compete across several weeks. Likely, the top 13 teams from here will make it to the Grand Finals to join the fight against the three invited teams for the title of world champions.

India to get the special invite?

The region or tournament for all but one of the slots in the PMGC 2023 have been announced. The only thing left is the special invite, which is yet to be announced. From here, two teams will join the League Stage while one will get a slot in the PMGC 2023 Finals.

In the PMGC 2021, India had similarly received a special invite. The top team of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS), a tournament for PUBG Mobile’s Indian version BGMI, earned a spot in the tournament.

The PMGC 2022, though, saw no Indian participation as a result of the game’s suspension due to data privacy concerns. However, with BGMI coming back in June 2023, the country will likely get a place in the PMGC 2023.
