Free Fire is marking its fifth anniversary throughout August. And the celebrations just got even grander as Garena has announced that a new map, Nexterra, is coming to the game.
For the game's fifth anniversary, Garena has planned a lot of content to keep players hooked. This includes a a major collaboration with international pop star Justin Bieber, a new map in the form of Nexterra, unique events, game modes, and more.
When will the Nexterra map release in Free Fire?
Garena has confirmed that the upcoming map will be released on August 20th. It will be available in both games, Free Fire and Free Fire MAX, on this day.
While little has been revealed about the map, Nexterra will be a futuristic map with “various enhanced elements." The developer said that these elements will “elevate and diversify the battle experience.” It’s unclear what this means exactly. Players will likely find out when it releases on August 20th.
The reveal video for the new shows many of the locations of Nexterra. These are as follows:
- Intellect Center
- Museum
- Grav Labs
- Deca Square
- Mud Site
- Plazaria
From the looks of it, Nexterra appears to be an open map with scattered vegetation and futuristic areas in between. Each of these areas has different components and will offer a unique fighting experience for the players.
On release, Nexterra will be the fifth map in Free Fire after Alpine, Bermuda, Purgatory, and Kalahari.

The release of Nexterra joins a long list of events that Garena has brought for players ahead of the anticipated 5th Anniversary for Free Fire on August 27th.
The main highlight of the celebrations is the collaboration with Justin Bieber. As a part of this, the pop star will be performing an in-game performance for the first time in Free Fire’s history. Justin Bieber will also be debuting a new track, titled ‘Beautiful Love (Free Fire)’ as a part of the performance.
Players will be able to enjoy the virtual concert through an interactive setup inside the game. Additionally, there will be custom emotes and minigames to make the celebrations more fun for players.
Lastly, Free Fire has also released two new modes for its 5th Anniversary. The first is the free-for-all where 16 players fight in an intense battle to achieve victory.
Droid Apocalypse is the other mode. In this 12-player mode, some players will turn into Droids and can turn humans into mechanical creatures for a certain period. After the timer runs out, the remaining humans will turn into hunters and can take down the Droids.
