The upcoming free-to-play anime-esque RPG, Duet Night Abyss, is suddenly the talk of the town because, unlike its competitors, it won’t have any gacha elements. Pan Studios recently announced that Duet Night Abyss will be completely free-to-play, with no pay-to-win schemes that compel players to spend real money.
Alongside revealing Duet Night Abyss’ release date in a launch livestream, Pan Studio delved into the game’s revamped monetization model and how players can earn new weapons and characters. Without further ado, here’s everything we know about Duet Night Abyss' gacha-less freemium game model.

All characters & weapons are free to earn in Duet Night Abyss
Players can unlock all characters and weapons in Duet Night Abyss for free. There won’t be any limited-time (or permanent) character or weapon banners to induce FOMO (fear of missing out) and entice players to spend money.
Everything can be unlocked by grinding shards and materials, similar to how it works in Warframe. However, players should expect the grind to be abysmal. Characters and weapons can also be bought for premium currency, like in Warframe or The First Descendant, though it’s optional.
Players can also purchase character skins and other cosmetic items with real-life money, which, as the developers pointed out, would form the basis of their monetization model.
Interestingly, Duet Night Abyss won’t feature a stamina system either. For those unaware, this is usually in place to restrict players from consuming all content quickly and encourage daily logins. In Duet Night Abyss, there will be no Sanergy limit, so players can grind content every day as much as they want to.
It’s worth noting that Duet Night Abyss’ new monetization model is quite similar to Warframe’s. Digital Extremes' free-to-play looter-shooter has garnered a healthy community over the past decade that continues to thrive and grow with each subsequent update. Duet Night Abyss could be in line to become similarly successful if it continues to respect its players' time and money, post-launch.
