Thailand reconnects with the MLBB esports scene with various leagues, opening the doors for the region to international appearances.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Super League (MSL) Thailand marks a new chapter in the region’s esports scene. This makes the region a major part of the game’s esports ecosystem, guaranteeing slots for international events.

The region has been missing in action since 2023. Their last appearance in international events was back in MSC 2023, where IDONOTSLEEP Esports (IDNS) qualified through the Mekong Qualifier. With Thailand now reintegrated in the MLBB esports scene, a new wave of esports organizations will take on the challenge.

For years, Thailand’s MLBB esports scene lacked the structural backbone seen in other regions like the Philippines and Indonesia. According to Hao Zhen Siew, head of MLBB Esports Thailand, there are three major gaps:

  • The absence of a consistent professional league
  • Limited long-term career pathways for players and staff
  • Weak integration with the global competitive calendar

That said, the MSL Thailand aims to solve these issues. By introducing an official league, the system now provides continuity, visibility, and purpose for teams. The league directly feeds into international tournaments like the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 and the M World Championship.

“Bridging the gap is about systems and sustainability, not just individual results,” Siew added. “Closer integration with international competition also gives Thai teams consistent benchmarks to measure progress and adapt.”

Furthermore, MOONTON Games is funding 10 million THB per season in incentives. This encourages organizations to invest not just in winning tournaments but expand fan engagement and long-term sustainability.

The first season of MSL Thailand will officially kick off on April 18. The event will be held at Lido Connect in Bangkok, Thailand, featuring five weeks of regular season action with a live audience.

The event will feature the following teams:

  1. FULL SENSE

  4. SOLYX
  5. eArena
  6. Tenacity
  7. Hydra

  10. Valee Thai Esports

The first eight teams mentioned on the list have been invited to the event. Meanwhile, ACT Esports Club and Valee Thai Esports worked their way from the qualifiers. The crowned champion in the event will earn a ticket to the upcoming MSC at EWC 2026. The runner-up will get a chance to prove themselves in the Mekong Cup, where the winner gets a ticket to the MSC as well.

MWI Thailand Qualifiers guarantees

Aside from the main regional league, the launch of the MLBB Women’s International (MWI) Thailand Qualifiers opens new doors for female athletes. This means the region’s all-female teams now have a clear path to the world stage. The winning team will first compete in the MCCM qualifiers, with the opportunity to advance to the MWI Main Stage at EWC 2026.

For stakeholders, MSL Thailand represents more than just another tournament — it’s a long-awaited foundation. Organizations like Buriram United Esports and King of Gamers Club see it as a defining moment for Thailand’s MOBA scene. It’s the opportunity many organizations and aspiring players have been waiting for.

Sattawat Intrayut, the team owner of King of Gamers Club, described the league as a breakthrough moment for the local MOBA scene.

“In the mobile MOBA industry in Thailand, we haven’t had a global-scale game like this before.”

Phongpanod Rueangarrirat, co-owner and player of King of Gamers Club, added:

“Our country has a strong esports industry, and with MLBB, we can do something great. I hope people see us at M8 and international competitions as well.”

For MSL Thailand, this is no longer about the region trying to catch up. The next course of action is to build something sustainable, competitive, and globally relevant. With MLBB approaching its 10th anniversary, Thailand’s reintegration is a good sign that the game’s esports scene is expanding. If the foundation holds, Thailand won’t just return to the global stage — it may help redefine it.
