MOONTON Games teams up with The Little Black Book Studios and Base Media to create an animated series of the beloved MLBB universe.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) gets its own animated series in partnership with The Little Black Book Studios (TLBBS) and acclaimed animation powerhouse Base Media. While this is not the first, it’s a bold step for MOONTON Games to establish itself in the mainstream entertainment.

The show aims to capture the essence of the Land of Dawn, where MLBB is set. This animated series should expand the lore and introduce it to both gamers and animation fans worldwide.

This isn’t just a video game tie-in; it’s a serious animation venture. The collaboration between TLBBS and Base Media signals MOONTON’s intent to build an enduring narrative property with top-tier cinematic quality. Base Media’s portfolio includes work with Marvel, Disney, and Industrial Light & Magic. And now, they’re turning their lens to MLBB’s expansive universe with a massive pool of unique heroes.

Chris Bremble, Founder and CEO of Base Media, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “It’s been an exciting journey working with the MOONTON Games team, seeing their story process and future plans for the MLBB universe… Working as a team to bring MLBB to a new audience is the kind of challenge we’re always looking to meet.”

As for TLBBS, this is their most ambitious project yet. The studio is known for transforming niche IPs into fully realized franchises across our ecosystem. Some examples of their previous works are Base Animation, Naruto, and Attack on Titan. They are ready to take on the MLBB fandom and deliver a series that resonates far beyond the gaming sphere.

"We are taking a huge and popular game and translating that into an animation that will bring the MLBB world to life… With the best from Hollywood and our expertise, we can’t wait to provide a series that delights both MLBB gamers and anyone who loves storytelling, adventure, and world-building.” TLBBS co-founder Ross Leo shared.

What fans can expect from the MLBB anime: storytelling, merchandise

Details like the official title, platform, and release date are still under wraps. However, the announcement hints at a larger ecosystem around the series. A dedicated marketing campaign and a new line of official merchandise are also in the pipeline. These are designed to immerse fans deeper into the Land of Dawn.

This strategy is a similar move to media expansions by other gaming giants, such as League of Legends' Arcane and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix. Both titles received critical acclaim and significantly expanded their IP’s audience.

This isn't MLBB's first adaptation

MOONTON Games is investing big in the upcoming MLBB animated series. However, this isn’t exactly the first time they've made something like this. Back in 2021, the Legends of Dawn: The Sacred Stone was released for the Asian audience.

The animated series featured 9 episodes and follows the story of one of the game’s heroes, Claude, who attempts to steal a sacred stone. More characters were introduced as the story went on. Each episode lasts around 7 minutes. This makes it closer to a mini-series rather than something akin to a full-fledged episodic season.
