Aero Esports received a permanent ban from MPL MY over unpaid salaries, locking the organization out from joining future MLBB esports events.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) slaps a permanent ban against Aero Esports following an investigation involving unpaid salaries. The organization reportedly had unresolved contractual obligations among its MLBB team members since October 2025. The ban applies to the entirety of the MLBB esports circuit. This means we won't be seeing Aero Esports participating in any official MLBB tournaments in the future.
MPL MY issues permanent suspension to Aero Esports
The decision to ban Aero Esports was announced after the investigation, which confirmed the organization had several violations. According to a post from MPL Malaysia, the ruling aligns with Clause 5.1 of the Team Participation Agreement. This section states how a league has the power to terminate a team’s participation if it fails to meet financial obligations or engages in conduct that harms the league’s reputation.

The investigation revealed that Aero Esports failed to pay its MLBB coaches and players since October 2025. This means the issue has been ongoing in MPL MY Season 15 and Season 16. The post also shared how the committee tried to contact the team manager, but to no avail. Due to the severity of the violation, MPL MY issued a permanent suspension to Aero Esports. This is the maximum penalty available under its regulations. Its owner is now banned from registering or managing any team within the MLBB ecosystem.
Measures to protect players and staff
Aside from the disciplinary action imposed, MPL My also outlined several steps taken to protect the staff and players affected by this suspension. A portion of Aero Esports’ prize pool earnings from MPL Malaysia Season 16 has been withheld by the league. The league will distribute the funds directly to affected players and staff according to verified outstanding payments.
Furthermore, all affected players have been granted immediate free agent status. This allows them to find a new team without contractual restrictions within the MLBB ecosystem. The league encourages former players and staff to seek legal recourse as well.

Aero Esports will be missing out on a big change in MPL MY
Aero Esports has everything to lose with this suspension, as MPL MY is looking to shift into a franchise league after Season 16. According to MOONTON Games Malaysia esports lead, Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, the league will not fully replicate the franchise league formats of ID and PH. However, they will take inspiration and use data from both leagues to develop a model tailored to Malaysia’s unique ecosystem.
Franchise leagues aim to provide a stable revenue for participating esports organizations. This, in turn, provides a stable income for its staff and players. With Aero Esports out of the window, a new organization could potentially take its place. As for who it may be, we’ll just have to find out in the future.
