Marvel Rivals is about to get a boatload of new content when Season 1 releases.

The Season 1 of Marvel Rivals is right around the corner and the game will receive its biggest update to date.

New characters are coming to Marvel Rivals, and NetEase Games will make much-needed balance adjustments now that they have one month of data to look at after the game's global release in December 2024.

Here's everything you need to know about Marvel Rival Season 1 such as its content and the release date.

When does Marvel Marvel Rivals Season 1 start?

The Season 1 update will be released on January 10, 1 a.m PST, according to NetEase Games. It's going to be a three-month-long season, divided into two halves of six to seven weeks each.

Should the Marvel Rivals servers not go down, players will have no delay whatsoever to play the new season.

Fantastic Four is coming to Marvel Rivals and Ultron is also a possibility

All Fantastic Four members — Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing — will be added to Marvel Rivals as part of Season 1's content.

Marvel Rivals announced Fantastic Four's arrival on January 2. For now, we know that Mr Fantastic will be a Duelist with the ability to turn into a Vanguard for a while, and that Invisible Woman will be a Strategist.

Besides the addition of the Fantastic Four, fans thought Marvel Rivals could also add Ultron throughout season 1.

However, NetEase Games confirmed that only Fantastic Four will join Season 1.

Marvel Rivals Season 1 buffs and nerfs

Marvel Rivals players should expect massive balance changes for Season 1 as this aspect of the game has been left untouched since the global release.

According to NetEase Games, these are the characters getting buffs and nerfs in Season 1:

  • Buffs
    • Captain America (Vanguard)
    • Cloak and Dagger (Strategist)
    • Storm (Duelist)
    • Venom (Vanguard)
    • Wolverine (Duelist)
  • Nerfs
    • Hawkeye (Duelist)
    • Hela (Duelist)

Out of all these characters, Storm, Hela, and Hawkeye are the most obvious. While Storm barely gets any playtime, players have figured out how to abuse Hawkeye and Hela's abilities since the global release.

NetEase Games is toning down Hela and Hawkeye to allow other ranged characters to shine and most notably boosting the abilities of mobile-type Vanguards.

The Wolverine and Storm buffs should make them less of a niche-pick.

New maps, battlepass, skins, and more coming to Season 1

One of the challenges of any live service is not letting players get bored over time.

To do that, NetEase Games will introduce new maps to not let things get stale, a new battlepass to give players something to play for, and skins.

The three new maps are:

  • Empire of Eternal Night: Sanctum Sanctorum (new game mode Doom Match, first half)
  • Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown (Convoy, first half)
  • Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park (second half)

As for the battlepass, it will have double the content of Season 0's battlepass, including 10 skins. The devs showed new skins for Scarlet Witch, Wolverine, and Loki. The new battlepass will cost 990 Lattice.

That's all for now. Stay tuned to esports.gg for more Marvel Rivals news and guides.
