Learn how the Marvel Rivals rank reset will affect your Competitive ranking.
Marvel Rivals will reset the Competitive ranks when Season 0 concludes on Jan. 9 ahead of Season 1's debut.
Rank calibration is a standard practice across online games for several reasons. It prevents smurfs at the beginning, it tests whether the top players from the previous season are still good in the new meta, and allows everyone to start with a clean record.
However, Marvel Rivals will reset ranks in a slightly different way compared to other games. Here's how your Competitive rank will be affected.

How Marvel Rivals rank reset works
According to Zhiyong, the lead combat designer for Marvel Rivals, all players will drop seven divisions based on their standing at the end of the season.
So, if you're let's say in Platinum 1, you'll drop all the way to Silver 2 once the new Marvel Rivals season commences.
This formula means that anyone who finishes below Gold rank at the end of the season will start the new season in Bronze 3, the lowest rank of the game. It also means that it's not worth putting in extra effort at the end of the season as you won't retain your rank.
The rank reset will come at a time when Marvel Rivals is also introducing the Celestial rank, a rank that sits above GrandMaster and below Eternity on the ladder.
According to Zhiyong, Celestial will have three divisions and the developers are adding it because they "aim to provide a seamless experience for top players."
Marvel Rivals Season 1 kicks off on Jan. 10 at 1 a.m. PST and will last three months. The developers will divide the season into two halves of six to seven weeks each. So, you should have plenty of time to grind ranked.
