Marvel Rivals nerfs and buffs leaked ahead of mid-Season 1 update

We may have our first look at the nerfs and buffs coming to Marvel Rivals via it’s mid-season update for Season 1.

There have not been a ton of hero balance changes in Marvel Rivals' short life thus far. The ones that have been issued were massive and impactful, however. And now, ahead of Season 1's halfway point, we've got leaks of upcoming nerfs and buffs to your favorite Marvel Rivals heroes and villains.

According to X0XLEAK on X, we know what balance tweaks are coming. These were apparently found in a Chinese build of the game and roughly translated, so take them as pure speculation. They could be correct, but we won't know for sure until official patch notes are made available.

Balancing is important in a game where every character is an ultra-powered being. They are all overpowered in their own ways, but keeping them consistent with meta shifts and introducing new characters is important.

So, here's a list of every character we expect to get nerfs and buffs with the mid-Season 1 update in Marvel Rivals. Again, this is all leaked information, so don't count on it to be perfectly correct until the developers share the exact patch notes:

  • Venom
    • Frenzied Arrival has inwards knockback instead of vertical knockback
    • Ultimate cost reduced from 2800 to 2500
  • Captain America
    • Added the ability to use his shield while jumping
    • Vibranium Energy Saw's projectile speed increased from 60m/s to 80m/s, ejection speed after hit increased from 100m/s to 150m/s
  • Thor
    • Cooldown removed after Rune Awakening's duration ends
  • Groot
    • Wall placement distance increased to 18m from 15m
  • Magneto
    • Primary damage increased to 40 from 35
    • Metallic Curtain's energy cost increased to 65 from 50, maximum duration decreased to 1.5 from 2
  • Doctor Strange
    • Base HP changed to 600 from 650
  • Iron Fist
    • Base HP changed from 250 to 300
    • Jeet Kune Do's first, second, and fifth attack damage decreased to 30 from 32, sixth attack damage reduced to 50 from 55
    • Cooldown time of each hit increased from 1 to 1.5s, and damage from each Sun Punch decreased from 19 to 10
    • Bonus HP from Harmony Recovery increased from 50 to 150 with HP decay at 25/s
    • Dragon's Defense HP converted from block increased from 150 to 200
  • Mister Fantastic
    • Flexible Elongation field increased from 2.5m to 5m, now knocks enemies back upon landing, and charge increased from 8s to 10s
    • Brainiac Bounce damage increased from 50 to 70, energy cost increased from 2800 to 3000, and damage fall off changed to start decaying from 3m to max of 50 damage at 10m
  • Iron Man
    • Unibeam damage increased from 120/s to 140/s
    • Armor Overdrive Unibeam damage increased from 180/s to 190/s
  • Hawkeye
    • Base health increased from 250 to 275
    • Explosive Arrow damage decreased from 20 to 15, area of effect damage increased from 25 to 32
    • Crescent Slash cooldown decreased from 15s to 12s
    • Ultimate charge speed accelerated, draw speed is now 1.35 instead of 1.2
  • Storm
    • Wind Blade damage reduced from 70% to 60% at 30m
    • Weather Control self-boost increased from 12% to 16%, team boost from 8% to 10%
    • Goddess damage self-boost increased from 25% to 30%
  • Star-Lord
    • Ultimate Cost increased to 1800 from 1200
  • Scarlet Witch
    • Ultimate now grants 100 bonus HP upon cast, decays at 50/s after interruption or end
  • Spider-Man
    • Web-Shooters recharge time decreased from 3s to 2.5s
  • Moon Knight
    • Ultimate projectiles speed decreased
    • Corrected the damage logic of the Ultimate, each first now does a firm 150 damage
  • Black Widow
    • Rifle ammo capacity upped to 15 from 8
    • Ultimate's slow down effect reduced from 80% to 55%
  • Magik
    • Eldritch Whirl damage decreased from 45 to 40
    • Demon's Rage damage decreased from 80/s to 72/s
    • Ultimate cost reduced from 3700 to 3400
  • Hela
    • Soul Drainer damage falloff at 30m moved from 70% to 80%
  • Adam Warlock
    • Primary Fire damage increased from 55 to 60, with 60% damage fall off at 40m
    • Soul Bond healing increased from 10/s to 15/s
  • Cloak & Dagger
    • Ultimate cost increased from 3400 to 4000
    • Ultimate duration reduced from 10s to 8s after casting completes
    • Pause between Ultimate dashes reduced from 1s to .67s
    • Healing effect of Ultimate no longer stacks over lanes
    • Terror Cape vulnerability on enemies increased from 20% to 28%
  • Luna Snow
    • Ultimate cost increased from 4000 to 4500
  • Loki
    • Ultimate cost increased from 3400 to 4000
    • Ammo increased from 10 to 12
  • Mantis
    • Ultimate bonus HP reduced from 100 to 75
  • Invisible Woman
    • Ultimate cost increased from 4000 to 4300
  • Team-Up Abilities
    • Gamma's Unibeam damaged reduced to unknown amount, and Hulk HP gained as anchor reduced from 150 to 100
    • Psionic Disc teleport time reduced from 5s to 3s, bonus HP conversion increased from .5 to .8
    • Full Moon provides new 25/s healing effect
    • Symbiote Bond skill time reduced from 4s to 1s, 50% damage reduction removed, complete invincibility added
    • Frozen Chi's healing increased from 50 to 75, enemy slow increased from 20% to 30%

The leaker does indicate this list of nerfs and buffs for the mid-Season 1 update in Marvel Rivals may be incomplete. That's expected when it is leaked information. But if these are true, the Team-Up ability changes and Ultimate charge tweaks for Strategists will be a huge talking point.
