Your Luna Snows, Adam Warlocks, Rocket Raccoons, and the like are calling it quits for a while with the Strategist Strike in Marvel Rivals.
There is currently a Support or Strategist Strike that some Marvel Rivals players are taking part in. They feel that healers in the game get trashed far too often even when they are doing a sufficient job. And because of that, they are simply refusing to play their normal role.
This might be the first time something like this has ever happened in a team-based multiplayer game. If you recall the healer strike in Final Fantasy XIV, that is an MMO, but it may have set a precedent for this kind of action. Let's get into why it started.
Why did the Strategist Strike start in Marvel Rivals?
Apparently, it all began with popular streamer Vladan "Necros" Konstantinov. He posted a video calling support players morons and idiots. He stated that they ruin the game and believes it is the easiest role to play, but ultimately has the worst players in that role.
That sparked an online debate, where some agreed and others, who are of course Strategist mains, dished out some backlash and called for a strike in Marvel Rivals. Counter-opinion videos, posts on X, and even Reddit threads all discuss the situation.
From our research, several players in the game were called out while playing a Strategist, or support role, even with Necros being the source of their teammate's dislike of their abilities. Thus, players have called for the strike so the people who complain about their healers can simply do it themselves.

This has not been proven or confirmed, other than some screenshots of ranked points earned, but some are stating Strategist players receive far fewer ranked points upon a win. This is just the start of many players hesitant to take on the Strategist role.
Then you have your players who are partaking in the Strategist Strike in Marvel Rivals. All because they are being berated by Duelist mains who they say simply dive in and die without any notice or line of sight to be healed.
Several Strategist mains have come forward on Reddit with their own experiences. It is clear that they are in a role that doesn't get the recognition it deservers. And that has pushed them to go on strike until they're more appreciated.
In a way, it is admirable to see the community of Strategist players get together like this. They put forth a goal of a Strategist Strike in Marvel Rivals and are executing that goal. Good for them if they're taking issue with how they're treated by Duelist and Vanguard players.
For the time being, don't be surprised if you hop into a ranked match of Marvel Rivals and you have trouble getting someone to play a healer. We haven't quite noticed it yet, but have you seen anyone on strike while playing? Let us know.
