League of Legends may finally be getting voice chat for the entire team, not just your premade lobby. Here’s what we know.
The highly-requested feature is finally coming to League of Legends: team voice comms. Here's what we know and when we might get the long-awaited opportunity to commend our LoL teammates through voice chat.
Team voice chat in League of Legends soon
Voice chat will finally become a reality in League of Legends. Yes, League Voice already exists, but this new feature upgrades it so now you can talk to your whole team, not just your pre-made lobby.
Don't worry, though, this is all opt-in. You have to enable it in the settings, under the Voice tab. Below is a screenshot taken from the Public Beta Environment

If this isn't enough evidence for you, dataminers have also found signs that this is a fully developed system, as opposed to an accidental update.
The image below displays a "parties_comm_panel" component that can be switched between two tabs: PARTY and TEAM. The whole window also has the VOICE header, making this even more likely to be in-game voice chat.

So League Voice isn't going anywhere, but the whole panel will be replaced to accommodate talking to your team.

Another relevant line of code involves the settings, where players will be able to supposedly set a PTT (Push-To-Talk) key. You will be able to have two separate keybinds: one for Party and another for Team, if you wish.

Lastly, another category in the report screen has been added: VOICE COMMS ABUSE. The description reads "Bullying, harassment, threats, hate speech in team voice." With the recent improvements Riot has been making to punishing destructive behavior in-game, perhaps they finally felt confident enough to introduce this feature to global servers.
Voice comms in LoL: What to expect
Voice comms and voice chat have already been in League of Legends as early as 2024. However, this was only for the Chinese server.
A post by Reddit user u/lol_dango in r/leagueoflegends outlined the features of this voice comms.

According to the post, players can mute themselves and adjust the volumes of each teammate individually. Even if you're muted, you can still see who is speaking. The interface sits where League Voice is now, and you can hide the panel by clicking on the headset button.
When is voice chat going live on LoL?
We can get voice comms in League of Legends as early as Patch 26.5, scheduled on March 4, 2026. However, for big system updates and additions like the WASD control scheme, sometimes these new features stay in the PBE for more than one update cycle.
If you're really eager to try it out, you can hop on the PBE server and provide the dev team with valuable feedback. Otherwise, waiting for it to ship to live servers is all you can do.
