League of Legends has many different game modes. A fan favorite, Ultra Rapid Fire, makes its return after nearly a year.
Within League of Legends (LoL), there are multiple different game modes. Some are there constantly such as Teamfight Tactics (TFT) and All Random All Mid (ARAM). Others, such as Swarm and Ascension, may never be seen again. And then some return every once in a while, like Ultra Rapid Fire (URF) – which is now back in the game.

URF, not to be confused with the manatee champion we never received, is a returning LoL game mode, which we have not seen since March 2024. Played on the Summoner’s Rift map, players have the same task as a normal game – destroying the enemy Nexus. However, in URF, everything is different.
Cooldowns are reduced to almost nothing and mana is of no importance as spells cost zero to cast. This makes for some seriously overpowered champions. But to almost balance that, champions are randomized, with at least one re-roll available in almost every game. With that said, expect a Karthus now and again to Requiem you back to base.
Every champion can technically dominate the rift, but some of the strongest are:
- Shaco
- Ryze
- Karthus
- Teemo
- Blitzkrank
- Fizz
- Zed
These are just a few champions who could almost guarantee you a victory, but we are most excited to see Mel reflecting everyone's abilities every second.
When it comes to LoL, things can get pretty heated on Summoner’s Rift, but URF takes that edge off – for most, at least. While ARAM still requires normal builds, this mode can see almost everyone messing around with their extra gold gain and a cannon to shoot you into lane faster. Expect to find some champions soloing Baron and Atakhan, while others dominate the lanes with insane ability spam.
