In the newest developer’s update, Riot Games announced the return of Hextech Chests after players heavily disagreed with the decision to remove them.

Yes, you read it right, my friend. Our beloved Hextech Chests are coming back to the game! Riot Games confirmed its removal from the game at the end of 2024. Players were not happy about this decision, as well as others made since the beginning of the season. There was even a movement of thousands of players and overall fans of the game online demanding the return of Hextech Chests. Not only these items, but more Blue Essence, better skin quality, and much more. Let's dive into what will happen in the next Act.

Hextech Chests return

"It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff. They were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark." That's how the developers' update started. As a result, Riot Games will bring back the Hextech Chests to the game.

These changes start on patch 25.05, which comes out on March 5. You'll be able to earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and Keys for each Act. The Battle Pass will be adapted, and eight Chests will be given to you by the free Battle Pass. After seasonal skins' bad feedback, they decided to replace the seasonal skin and the mystery epic or lower skin by Hextech Chests.

According to Riot Games, the concept of the Battle Pass will be adapted to various playstyles. "Whether you play modes with random champion selection or free choice, whether you play a wide variety of champions or just a few, we want to support that." As for the other two, they will be given to you by Honor, just like the capsules and orbs used to do. Since the Honor System is still being changed, these two Hextech Chests will be made available by completing missions.

More changes to come?

Riot Games is not in the best spot right now. After many controversial decisions, players even started a petition demanding the immediate removal of the CEO, Dylan Jadeja. At the time of publishing this article, the petition had more than 29,000 signatures, which is more than the 25,000 original goal. According to the organizers, Riot Games has been prioritizing "profits over player experience."
