Is ranked still down for League of Legends? Riot accidentally deletes 13.1b changes

Fans finally got their wish of playing an older version of League of Legends, sort of.

Fans who have been asking to play older versions of League of Legends got to live their dream briefly last night when Riot Games sent the MOBA into disarray. Last night Riot Games accidentally deleted every change that came in the 13.1b hotfix. This caused Riot to act swiftly and disable ranked queues with only the traditional 'Blind Pick' being accessible.

This meant for a brief period of time, League of Legends players were playing an older version of the game. This meant the big ADC mana buffs which were introduced by former caster turned game designer David "Phreak" Turley was not in play. . This also meant several items and champion changes were stuck in their original 13.1 states from the start of season 13.

League of Legends ranked status

Fortunately for fans, whose grind out of bronze was put on pause, Riot Games confirmed last night that ranked queues are no longer down for League of Legends. During the disabling process, players should have received loss prevention for any ranked games played at the time.

As explained by Riot employee Ray Yonggi in a Discord message, patch 13.1b was a hotfix. This hotfix was ultimately deleted when Riot attempted to update the game. Patch 13.1b was introduced when Riot suffered an unfortunate social engineering attack. This attack lead to the delayed deployment of patch 13.2. With 13.3 being released tomorrow (February 8), Riot felt this was the best course of action to manage micro patches until 13.3.

This also had an impact on TeamFight Tactics, who also saw their 13.1b hotfix patch removed from the game. During the time of the cyber attack, TFT had already progressed to 13.2. However, because of the attack, Riot moved the game into 13.1b.

This article will be updated with any future updates on the status of ranked being down for League of Legends.
