The first International LoL event of 2024.
The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2024 will take place in Chengdu, China Riot Games has announced today. The tournament will feature twelve of the best League of Legends teams from all over the world from May 1-19, 2024. Here’s all that we know so far.
Riot Games unveiled details about MSI 2024 including the format, venue, and much more. League of Legends esports will go to China in May this year. Chinese fans and League of Legends fans worldwide will get a glimpse of top-tier esports in the country.
MSI 2024 format
There will be a total of twelve teams in competition for MSI 2024. The twelve teams include:
- 2 teams each from LPL, LCK, LCS, and LEC
- 1 team from LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS
The Play-In stage will feature eight teams including the second seed teams from the LCK, LPL, LEC and LCS. It will also include the top seed from LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS.
The teams will play in two groups with each group featuring a double-elimination format. Every match of this group stage will be best-of-three series. The top two teams from each group advance to the next stage - the Bracket Stage.
The Bracket Stage itself will also feature the top seeded teams from the LCK, LPL, LEC and LCS joining the four teams from the Play-In Stage. Feturing a total of eight teams, the BRacket stage has four teams playing in a best-of-five double-elimination bracket. The Grand Finals takes place on May 19 with the winner also receiving an invitation to Worlds 2024.
The League of Legends Mid-Seasonal Invitational is the first International competition for 2024. After having played in the regional League so far, teams will get their first taste of International competition in Chengdu.
Tickets Information
The MSI 2024 tickets will go on sale starting April 2, 2024. League of Legends fans can buy the tickets starting 2 pm CST April 2. Here are more details about the Ticket sales.

- Bracket Stage (Week 1): May 7-12

- Bracket Stage (Week 2): May 14-18
- Prices: ¥288 - ¥1,088 (~39-149)
- Final - May 19
- Prices: ¥488 - ¥1,388 (~$67-190)
At stake for the teams is an invitation to Worlds 2024. This also means that the winner of MSI 2024 will secure an additional seed for their region. To ensure that the team that qualifies early for Worlds remains committed to success in their home league, they still must qualify for their region's Summer Playoffs. The MSI 2024 Draw Show will take place after the LPL Finals on April 20.
