The 2026 Season is coming to League of Legends with a new Act I and a brand-new metagame that will teach you the history of Demacia.

Looking at it, the new League of Legends (LoL) metagame takes us back to the Pokémon Gold and Silver era. To kick off the 2026 Season Act I in a big way, Riot introduces Demacia Rising, the newest metagame. You’ll play as Lux, mentored by her aunt Tianna in the ways of military strategy.

New LoL metagame: Demacia Rising

The first thing you'll learn in the newest metagame is Demacia's history. As a strong, lawful kingdom with a prestigious military history, Demacia is a land of "justice, honor, and duty most highly." You will play as Lux, the most played champion in League and one of the most iconic figures from Demacia.

On this journey, Tianna, Lux's aunt, will be your mentor. During the metagame, you'll expand the kingdom, produce useful resources, train your army, research for powerful upgrades to your military and towns, and defend your nation from ongoing threats.

How to advance in the metagame

During the act, the game will be updated several times. You'll have new upgrade tiers, items, story, units, champions, threats, and events.

The metagame will be available in League of Legends until the end of Act I. You'll have plenty of time to play it. To build your kingdom, you'll need Silver Shields. These resources are earned by playing League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics (TFT).

During Act I, you'll see daily and weekly missions that will provide large amounts of Silver Shields. All you need to do is play the game, and you'll win them. If you purchase the Battle Pass, you'll instantly receive Silver Shielders. The amount you earn from the recurring mission will also be increased. If you play a game with a skin released during Season 1, you'll get a one-time bonus of this resource.
