LoL Worlds viewership reaches over 1 billion hours watched
The LoL Worlds 2024 event is currently in its Knockout Stage and continues to impress with its viewership numbers. Just last week, the Swiss Stage viewership broke a record with a 96% surge. Now, according to Esports Charts, the LoL Worlds series as a whole is the second event series, after the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL), to reach 1 billion hours of watched time.
Since its start in 2011, LoL Worlds has become one of the most recognized esports events and consistently grew its viewership. For example, Korean peak viewership alone at LoL Worlds 2023 surpassed the combined peak from LoL Worlds 2016.
Vietnamese, Spanish, Portuguese, and French audiences have grown over the years as well. Brazil, in particular, is one of the fastest-growing regions in terms of the LoL esports scene. Portuguese-language viewership has been up for LoL Worlds whenever a Brazilian team gets the spotlight.
Meanwhile, viewership from Japan has increased in the past couple of years. According to Esports Charts, viewership reached over 150,000 concurrent Japanese fans in 2023.
